iOS Sync Error

Post by Cheule »

The Error message reads: "MacDive failed to connect to the device xxxx xxxxxxx iPad"

I have the demo version of MacDive 2.1.0
The paid version of Dive Log for iPad and iPhone 1.7

I have removed the com.mintsoftware.MacDive2 file from ~/Library/Preferences, as well as all data files from ~/Library/Application Support/MacDive, as well as reinstalling the software, several times.

The iPad (and my iPhone for that matter) always gives me this error message when I attempt to sync. I have the iOS devices on the same WiFi network as my computer.

FWIW, I have installed the FTDIUSB driver for my Suunto D9tx, and that connects and downloads dives perfectly as of the 2.1.0 update. Thanks for the addition of that code.

What additional information would you like to help diagnose this?

I am currently looking in to this.

The solution is to quit MacDive and to quit Dive Log (i.e. home screen, hold until you get the X, tap it to quit) and restart.

The problem appears to occur when you have both ethernet and wifi enabled. If you disable one of them, you hopefully won't see the issue. At any rate I'm working on it, and should be able to have a fix in the next update.

Ok, it took me a while to get back to this, but I finally did and have disappointing news.

Ethernet was never enabled on my laptop (it's WiFi connected only) and I have this issue. Also, I held the home button on both the iPhone and the iPad to "force quit" Dive Log, and still had the iOS sync problem with Mac Dive.

Anything else I could try? I had these two talk once upon a time, but one of the upgrades (either Dive Log or Mac Dive) killed it.

Still unable to sync, anything new on his? I tried disabling the ethernet, and quitting the app on the iOS device to no avail.

I am getting the exact same problem. It worked for my once but now I get the same error mentioned above. The odd thing is it says "Device found:, then I get the spinning beachball of death, then the above error (failed to connect) and finally it says "Connecting to xxxxxx iPhone" at the bottom of MacDive continuously even though it clearly isn't.

Is it one of the latest updates that has done this?

MacDive 2.1.0
Dive Log 1.7.1

Are you guys still seeing this problem with iOS 5 ?

I went to look at the issue, and I haven't been able to replicate it since I upgraded.
