Thank you for getting 2.0 out to us! I've been waiting on a Mac software solution for my Pro Plus 2 for over a year now.
Unfortunately, I've yet to be able to transfer any data from the Pro Plus 2 to my mac.
FTDI VCP USB drivers were installed from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm
Mac installation guide I followed can be found at:
http://www.ftdichip.com/Documents/AppNo ... AC_OSX.pdf
When I attempt to transfer data to MacDive, I get the following:
IMPORT ERROR
Failed connecting to dive computer on serial port
'/dev/tty.usbserial-20030001' (Error Code: -5)
Changing the serial port from '/dev/tty.usbserial-20030001 ' to '/dev/tty.USERNAME-1 ' results in
(Error Code -4).
Attempting to follow the instructions for "how to report dive computer problems" produces only the .LOG file, and no .DMP file. Looking through terminal when I run the test application, I noticed a 'timeout'.
Next, I thought to test the cable on a windows machine. Downloaded the oceanlog software, connected the ProPlus 2 and followed the windows prompts for drivers allowing windows to install the drivers automatically.
Computer USB interface is recognized immediately however attempting to import any data results in a 'Timeout'.
Is the Cable Faulty? What else can I try?
Thank you for all your hard work on this software - - - - I'd desperately like to use it!!!
Carl

Re: Pro Plus 2 timeout
Can you send Nick and myself that logfile, such that we can see exactly where it fails.
Re: Pro Plus 2 timeout
FWIW, I have the same computer, works fine with macdive 2.

Re: Pro Plus 2 timeout
I have the same computer and no problems. Installed the drivers just one week ago.
Some "stupid" ideas:
- Did you install the correct driver for your operating system's version?
- Did you connect the dive computer properly? The connector is not error proof. You have to see the top of your dive computer and the oceanic logo on the USB cable if it's connected.
- Is this a Pro Plus 2.1 (a newer version of the computer)?
Please ignore the ideas, if you know how to connect.

Re: Pro Plus 2 timeout
Another "stupid" idea: Did you activate the dive computer's menu "PC"?
EDIT: I get error code -5 if I do connect properly, but do not enter this menu.

Re: Pro Plus 2 timeout
Thanks for the responses!
Nick should have the .log right now.
Boris, Not 'stupid' ideas at all! Great things to double and triple check!
Driver for Mac OSX downloaded from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm
I did not see any different versions for tiger, leopard, etc. BTW I'm using OS 10.5.8
Regarding the USB connector, Honestly at first I wasn't sure if it could plug in either way. I've tried it both ways, with the same result.
No, this is a Pro Plus 2.0- - with the grey plastic buttons.
Yes, the ProPlus 2 is in PC mode- - - Settings page 1, 4th 'click' in: screen says 'PC' and is counting down from 120 seconds while I'm attempting to connect.
I guess the real kicker was that I couldn't get it working on a windows machine, either.
Thank you!
Carl

Re: Pro Plus 2 timeout
I'm going to jump in on this thread since I am having the exact same problem. I tried all the steps DocCarl tried and get the same error code. "Failed connecting to dive computer on serial port
'/dev/tty.usbserial-20030001' (Error Code: -5)"
I have the pro plus 2.1 and am running osx 10.6.4. I also downloaded the free limited edition of the software as I wanted to try it out before I bought it.
the vtpro.log file reads
The one thing that concerns me is I cannot enter pc mode manually, I go to Set 1, and click the left button 4 times as the manual indicates I should. I see the F02 menu, the deep alarm option, the EDT screen then it goes back to the main screen. The device does enter pc mode when I connect the transfer cable.
Thanks for any help

Re: Pro Plus 2 timeout
@Carl: The driver's disk-image contains a bundle for 10.3 and a bundle for 10.4 and later.
I installed on my good old (t)rusty Power Book G4 the drivers for 10.5, MacDive and the license file. I can import all dives from the dive computer without problems. Can you try another another USB-port, another dive computer and another USB cable?
@danimal: There seems to be a significant change from ProPlus2 to ProPlus2.1

Re: Pro Plus 2 timeout
For everyone running into problems with veo's. Can you send me the logfile of the test application AND a portmon logfile? The procedure for creating a portmon file is explained here: http://www.divesoftware.org/libdc/contr ... l#protocol You'll need a windows machine to create one.
