I'm connecting a new (2016) series MBP to a Suunto VyperAir using a USB-c to USB-A converter. I've tried converters from Apple and Aukey. Both have the same behavior. MacDive can't detect a valid serial port. The VyperAir however correctly switched to "Data Transfer" mode.
Does MacDive require an upgrade?
Currently using MacDive v2.8.2
New MacBookPro with only USB-c ports

No. You just need to install the USB driver and reboot.
