Need help Syncing my Oceanic VT 4.1

Can someone walk me through this, please? I've downloaded and licensed MacDive and installed driver FTDI USB Serial Driver _10_4_10_5_10_6_10_7. I am running MAC OS 10.7.3 on my MacBook Pro. I can find no serial ports listed in Preferences for MacDive. When I attach my computer to my laptop, using the USB cable it came with, all I see is "Use Oceanlog PC Program to download your info."

Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you have installed the driver and find no serial ports under Preferences -> Advanced -> Scan for serial port, then one of two things is happening: You didn't actually install the driver, or the cable is not plugged in.

Steps:

1. Download Driver
2. Install Driver (follow the on screen instructions)
3. Plug in dive comp
4. Click Download Dives -> Oceanic -> VT4.1

You may need 3a, scan for serial port, if it is not detected by default.

The FTDI driver is correct for the VT 4.1.

Thanks again, Nick. Sorry to be such a pain. I can now see the driver in Preferences, so that's good. Still, when I plug in my VT 4.1, I get "PC Comm in * seconds" and then nothing after the countdown completes. I'm not really sure what to expect. Shouldn't MacDive recognize the computer or something? Maybe it's because I don't have a completed dive yet?

You need to File -> Download Dives -> Oceanic -> VT4.1

But if you haven't done any dives, then there isn't much point..
