When will DL7 and/or DLG Export formats be available?

Drop me an email. Still resolving a couple of notes from DAN, but we're almost there. The file format is a little picky and a few things are not covered in the documentation, so just a couple of final things to smooth out.

But as I think I've mentioned, the new version that will be going out contains a fairly hefty number of other changes, so that all needs to be tested a bit as well. So yeah, drop me an email and you can have a play with it and I can let you know as soon as the DL7 format is ticked off by DAN.

I have had to cut DL7 from this release. Sorry guys. Still working on it with DAN.

In the end, I had to stop holding up this release which contains a huge amount of changes and bug fixes.

No doubt we've all seen the notice from PADI that their Scuba Earth site accepts imports in DL7 format..only (if not, cruise over there). I know Nick is nearly giving himself a DCI at sea level to build this in (go Nick!) but I was wondering if anyone here has tried creating a conversion tool for the available exports to DL7? If so, I'd love to take a look at it!

However, I'm wondering if Scuba Earth have an API to do direct exports from MacDive to their site? Maybe a lower bar to jump over and really is the only use case I have for DL7 right now.

For ScubaEarth, the files I'm generating seem to work from some limited testing. The issue is that DAN are quite strict with what they'll accept. So, if you convert something else to DL7 that's cool, but keep in mind DAN may well reject it if you haven't read the docs and had it verified by them. There are a number of things not covered by the docs also, that only came up once DAN were looking at the data.

That's where the issue is. Also, handy hint, last time I checked ScubaEarth failed if you gave it files with Unix line endings, they need to be DOS encoded.

Still waiting to hear back from DAN. There is hope that they are working on a couple of the problems which will make the end result a lot better.

DAN got back to me a couple of days ago, so I think I can get it finished off. Just been busy at the day job, pretty hectic couple of weeks, and I'm getting ready to go on a dive holiday of my own (hey I get to dive too sometimes..)

I might have a beta before then, if not, it will be in a month or so.

Just a quick update. This is mostly working and done. DAN have strict requirements about how they want to receive data - broken down in to multiple files, by computer, repetitive group, etc. For my own sample data (if I export everything) this resulted in over 50 files on my desktop.

So, we've come to an agreement where I can provide a zip file of all of the dives. This means you only end up with one file, which you can upload, and DAN can filter out what they do/don't want etc. I think that's a much nicer user experience. Just waiting for the guy to get back to the office now and confirm everything looks good, and then it should be good to release.

Sorry for the delay all - writing the file is one part. Making sure everything is done in order to be useful in their system takes a bit of back and forth to get smoothed out.
