Mares Nemo Wide

Post by Turvey »

Hello fellow Macdive fans, after 35+ years of diving with watch, gauge, and tables, I'm finally considering a wrist computer. At my age (sigh), I need a big screen and large fonts. The Mares Nemo Wide looks like it might fit my needs. Anyone using it with Macdive? Alternate suggestions are welcome (I've been thinking about the iGills case for an iPhone 4, but I want to see more published field experience).

Thanks in advance, and happy diving!

Mark.

A number of people use the Nemo Wide. I haven't used one personally, I've briefly played with a Nemo Titanium I borrowed off a friend. The IRIS can be a little fiddly to get connected, but once you figure out the trick it works smoothly.

As for diving with it, I can't help you there as I haven't used one, but they're fairly common.

Thanks Nick. Still dithering between that and the new Giotto from Cressi. Or just renting.

Best wishes for the holidays!

Not sure of your budget or anything, but another option is the Divesystem iDive range. I've been playing with one (the iDive Pro) and just added support to MacDive for them, and it's pretty cool.

I don't usually give out recommendations, but I gotta say it's a pretty sweet unit - worth a look as its somewhat similar to the ones you've mentioned.

I used one for about 200-250 dives. It was easy to upload and nick managed to iron out the few issues quickly.
To dive with it was great, nice big display, 3 gas mixes.
I only switched to an OSTC 2C because of lots of dark uk diving and starting to need to plan deco dives.
Hope this helps
Dave
