I am using Macdive 1.5.2 with OS X10.6.2 and a Suunto Cobra with a Smartinterface USB cable, and even after following all instructions step by step I get "Cannot read memory" from Macdive after starting "Import" on the File Menu. Is there any kind of diagnosis I can run? Any advice on how to proceed, perhaps?

Can you run the vyper test application to find out whether the error is in the libdivecomputer library or macdive itself? Instructions are available on the libdivecomputer website.

Did you install the smart interface USB driver ? (NB: I am not sure if this is snow leopard compatible, it doesn't seem to mention anything on the website).
If you go preferences -> advanced -> scan for serial port, what shows up (when the cobra is in pc transfer mode) ?
