Reefnet Sensus Ultra Download Problems

Post by kar120c »

Perhaps the Reefnet Sensus Ultra should be removed from the list of supported devices, since it is apparently not possible to download data from that model of device reliably. I have attempted this repeatedly over the last couple of years, using multiple versions of software, hardware, drivers, and cables with erratic success.

We have three different Reefnet Sensus Ultra devices. All of them download data perfectly well to the Sensus Manager software, but none of them can consistently download to MacDive (current configuration: MacDive 2.1.9, Reefnet firmware 3.2, on a Mac Powerbook 15'' running OSX 10.8.2). When I attempt to download any of the devices, I sometimes get partial success (1 or 2 dives off the whole device, even when trying to read 'all dives'), other times I get no data at all read. When it fails to read data I get the error message:

Failed to read dive computer memory (Error Code: -7)

In several years of trying, I have never been able to get MacDive to read all the dive data on any of these devices. Can anyone confirm that they can download the Reefnet Sensus Ultra to MacDive properly and consistently?

This has been a problem for a while. We've been trying to get some more info out of Reefnet and figure out exactly what the issue is. For now, I have to download a few times and eventually it works, but the more data you need to download, the more likely it is to fail. It's rather frustrating, but we are trying to resolve it.

There is another USB driver mentioned in a thread on this forum that seems a little more reliable, I've had some luck with that.

I'll have another crack at getting this resolved.
