I installed the 2.2.18 version of the FTDI driver from the FTDI website, and the PID/VID is identical to the one from the smartinterface site...

sudo kextload FTDIUSBSerialDriver.kext doesn't give an error message...

After I plug it in get the following message in console:

18-11-12 22:41:56,000 kernel: USBF: 18368.889 [0xffffff8012448200] The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (Port 1 of Hub at 0x4000000)
18-11-12 22:41:59,000 kernel: USBF: 18371.901 [0xffffff8012448200] The IOUSBFamily was not able to enumerate a device.
18-11-12 22:42:11,000 kernel: USBF: 18383.224 [0xffffff8012422000] The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (Port 2 of Hub at 0x6000000)
18-11-12 22:42:14,000 kernel: USBF: 18386.231 [0xffffff8012422000] The IOUSBFamily was not able to enumerate a device.


with what software should I test on a windows pc to see if the cable is ok?

Test the official Suunto software.
