With any luck I should have some recovered data from an old computer that includes a load of .sdl files from previously logged, and so I thought lost dives.
I've had a quick look at file formats to import in to macdive and see the later .sde format supported. Will I be able to get the .sdm files in to macdive or will I have to find a work around?

Re: .sdm Files
....well, they've all come back on a disc, all the folders I was expecting are there and they are .sdl files. Unfortunately, my MacBook, although it sees them says they are Unix Executable Files and I can't seem to do anything with them.
Is there anything I can do?
Is it possible the information I want is still in the files?
Or should I give up hope and continue inputing years worth of dives manually?

Re: .sdm Files
You can export an .SDE file from suunto and import that. Maybe you could load it up in the old suunto software and do an export?

Re: .sdm Files
I don't have access to a PC and as far as I can work out the old Suunto Dive Log isn't available for a Mac.
The files don't look right in their image either, just a grey box with a bit of green accross the top, not sure what that is..any ideas??

Re: .sdl Files
I've sent the files zipped up, they were too large to send normally.

Re: .sdl Files
Those look to be suunto dm v1 files. I tried importing them into SDM 2, but they failed to import. I tried using SDM v1.5 to read them, and they all got invalid file errors.

Re: .sdl Files
Hi Nick,
Well thanks for trying anyway. I spent most of Saturday playing with it and got nowhere either. I guess life is too short to spend any more time on it. I've resigned myself to manually inputting around 500 historic dives. I've been putting it off but I would like to complete the task.
Regards,
Martin
