sqlite boob

Post by Martin »

I've boobed....I did an ios sync with my iphone that went wrong, for some reason dates, dive numbers sites and everything ended up jumbled..I couldn't rectify it so deleted my dives with the intention of backing it back up from an iPad through ios sync. That ends up a jumble as well.

I have a sqlite file saved from a couple of days ago {it's the one I sent to you with an issue, Nick)

Question is, how do I get the sqlite file to do the business and hopeful save my bacon?

Open your MacDive data directory and put it in there, named MacDive.sqlite.

You can go to Preferences -> Advanced to open the directory, then place your backed up file there.

Did you quit MacDive first, and then restart?

This is where the data lives. Whatever is there is what will be loaded. Ensure it is named correctly and is in fact the correct file.

Whenever you sync, you should check the Dives summary to ensure that what will happen is ok. If you see anything there that doesn't make sense, then follow the instructions for reporting issues in the iOS sync guide in the help (basically sending me your Dive Log backup, and your MacDive file), with a detailed explanation + screenshots of what is wrong so I can take a look.

The sync is not perfect - it's a fairly complex process, so yeah you should double check that everything looks sane before clicking "Sync". Just in case :)

I know, I know!! I didn't check and now I'm fed up cause it was me trying to be clever in the first place.

Ah well, it keeps me out of the pub....

Thanks,
Martin
