Migration of Aeris Atmos ai Dive Data from Windows to Mac

Post by watkinsmd »

I've got a Windows partition running on my Mac with the standard Aeris-provided dive software running on it. I would like to extract the data from that program, format it into a format compatible with MacDive, and import my dives into MacDive. The only thing I'm using that partition for is to run my Aeris program so I'd like to just blow it away.

I saw a post on this using the UDCF format but it wasn't clear. Are there any samples or better documentation as to how this should be formatted to bring this old dive data in? I have hundreds of dives with a 15 second sampling interval so obviously hand-keying these into MacDive is not my preferred route.

Thanks.

Just export the Aeris stuff as CSV and drag drop that file (or those files) on to MacDive - they will read fine.

Though, note, it doesn't contain all of the information. But it will contain the profile and main info at least.

The Aeris log software doesn't allow you to export as a .csv. I had to export a comma delimited .txt, open in Excel and save as a Mac .csv. I then tried to drag/drop the .csv to MacDive, but nothing happens. Can you help with this? I'm not willing to manually enter dive profile data for 175 dives. Thanks!

It is the comma delimited .TXT file that you can drag/drop to MacDive. There is no need to rename it to CSV via Excel, this doesn't work as you've found out. Just drag/drop the original files.

That's why when you go File -> Download -> File Formats, it only lets you pick ".txt". Of course you don't see this when you drag/drop.

Nick, I tried using the .txt file, I get the message "Import Complete. No new dives found".

Ah, yes - my apologies. This is an issue in the current version of MacDive that has been fixed in the latest beta.

You can use: http://www.mac-dive.com/downloads/MacDive_Beta.zip and it should work as expected.
