download from a helo 2

Post by bjkered »

I download all my dives from Helo2 I do some tweeks to the info downloaded eg add site locations gear etc.

I then do a download again and ask to "only import only new Dives" and I find that it down loads all the dives again so there are duplicates. I though that this should not download any thing

how do I stop this happening

It shouldn't download duplicates.

If you do it a third time, does it download them *again* or does it say "no new dives found" ?

Hi I backed every thing up and did an import again. "Any dives that have not been imported"

This time it imported 13 dives. These now show up as duplicates.

They were not the last dives or any thing but a group of dives about two thirds through the Helo2 dive computers log.

I then did nothing to the dives in MAC Dive, but tried another import and it did not import any dives.

I then deleted the 13 imported dives and ran an import again "Any dives that have not been imported"
It re imported the same 13 dives again.

Question What should i do with this duplicated imported dives.

What I mean was import the 13 dives. Then redo the import WITHOUT deleting, to see if they are imported again, or if they correctly get ignored this time.

Sorry in my last post you missunderstood.

I have allready tried the re-import with out deleting the 13 and it DID not re-import the 13 again.

It appears to only re-import the 13 after they are deleted

Right, cool.

There was a bug in a previous version where this could happen. There are two ways you can fix it really: One, is to reimport your dives and remove the original ones. However this is annoying as you would lose all your data.

The other is to wait until you have new dives. Import, delete the duplicates, but leave the new dives. From then on, subsequent imports with "Only import new dives" should work as expected.

Does that make sense? Basically it should only be those particular dives that will get duplicated, and only if there is not a newer dive to stop the download.

The third option is that you send me your MacDive.sqlite data file and a memory dump of your device (see the instructions for reporting dive computer problems) and I can look at manually fixing it for you. But I would rather not do this, so please only do it if you absolutely cannot live with the fact there may be duplicates until you do a new dive, and then you will likely never notice the problem again.

Ok

I will try the wait and do new dives,

I am off to egypt in a week to do a live a board, hence was in the process of clearing up MacDive an the Helo2 ready for a whole new series of dives and will try and clean it up when I get back.

Thanks

Cool, enjoy the trip!

When you get back, import, and delete the duplicates. What you could do is then delete the last new dive. Then import only new dives, and it should just bring in the last one.

Either way, after you've done that and tidied it up, everything should be good. Apologies for the inconvenience. Better to have too much data than not enough though, right? :)
