Can't import from Oceanic VEO 250

Post by rFisH »

Hi! Got really happy finding Mac-Dive! Unfortunately I didn't get it to work. :-(

At least I think I've installed the drivers correctly but i seems that the USB-port doesn't connect to VEO.

When I start download It shows my brand Oceanic VEO250 as my chosen computer. Bu t I get this error:
Import error
Failed connecting to dive computer on serial port '/dev/tty.usbserial-20030001' (Error Code: -5)

I'm not a big fan of working in terminal windows but I got help from a developer, used to Mac+Unix. Still no luck....

My mac is MacBook Pro 2.66 Intel Core i7 MacOSX 10.6.5.

Downloaded:
MacDive 2.0.4
FTDIUSBSerialDriver_v2_2_14.dmg
D2XX driver
VCP driver

Sorry, but can you give me a idiot proof-guide? :-/

Follow the instructions in this topic: http://www.mac-dive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=407 Use the "veo250" backend.

You don't need the D2XX driver.

Did you put the Veo in transfer mode?

Ok, thanx. Do I have to uninstall the D2xx-driver?
Yep, it was in transfer mode.

Yeah, I would uninstall it to be sure it's not causing any problems.

Also make sure you are not using a USB hub, you are plugged directly into the computer. This has been known to cause problems in the past.

Ok, I'll just follow the instruction to uninstall them, then we'll see if it works better.

I ran the test (http://www.mac-dive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=407) and managed to generate a .log-file on my desktop. No dmp-file, though.
I mailed it to mac dive support so I got some new instructions.

No panic yet, dive trip planned 22/1. :-) Egypt, Red sea. :D

Just adding my $0.02, my VEO-250 has worked fine with the Mac Dive downloader. It was all a matter of getting the right FTDI driver for the transfer cable. After that, everything just works. I'm betting once you get that driver issue fixed you'll be fine. I ended up using a file called 'FTDIUSBSerialDriver_v2_2_14.dmg, used for 64 bit OSX. Here's the link: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP/Mac ... 2_2_14.dmg It's a VCP driver, not a D2XX driver.
