MacDive not detecting a valid serial port
I'm using an iMac iOs Mojave. I have purchased the full version of MacDive. I try to import my dives from my Mares Smart and receive the following error: "Import Error: MacDive encountered a problem downloading from your Mares Smart. Could not detect a valid serial port." Please help

Re: MacDive not detecting a valid serial port
Did you install the USB driver, linked off the devices page?

I installed the Silabs driver, but I can't find the files when I do a search. Silabs support doesn't respond

Re: MacDive not detecting a valid serial port
Hi,
If you are using a recent version of macOS then the most common issue with installing this driver is missing the popup that requires you to allow it via System Security Preferences. If you didn't do that already, then reinstall the driver, and during the installation, it should ask you to do this.
If it does not, then manually visit System Preferences > Security & Privacy. You should see a note at the bottom about allowing the SiLabs driver, and you can click "Allow". After you've done that it should be available to use.
I actually just did this last night for my Smart while I was testing something.
Try that.
Cheers

Re: MacDive not detecting a valid serial port
I am trying to get an Oceanic Pro Plus 3 to download. It shouldn't need a driver. I go into Advacned, and there are no serial ports available. I have done this connected to the Mac, and the USB port on the keyboard.
Re: MacDive not detecting a valid serial port
And for some reason, it just worked.
Re: MacDive not detecting a valid serial port
And now... not working again.
Under the devices page, it says no driver required. I have installed a driver for the DiverLog Lite app.
If I select the /dev/tty.usbserial-20030001 for the drive (I think this is the one installed by DiverLog), I get an error.
MacDive encountered a problem downloading from your Oceanic Pro Plus 3:
Failed connecting to dive computer on serial port '/dev/tty.usbserial-20030001' (Error Code: -5)
What does this mean?

Re: MacDive not detecting a valid serial port
The most common problem with the Pro Plus 3 is that your cable is plugged in upside down. It fits both ways, but only works one way. Low battery is a common issue, wet contacts, etc. Essentially it's a hardware problem on your end.
Re: MacDive not detecting a valid serial port
Cable only makes the computer go into PC mode one way. I am in PC mode when I get the error.
I have a ProPlus3 and my wife does too. Neither connect.
Batteries are good.
Computers are not wet. Haven't been able to get it to link for a month since our last dive.

Make sure the cable is not damaged or dirty, jiggle it around and try a couple of times, etc.
