Hi All

I'm completely new to both MacDive, Mac OS and my Oceanic OC1 (so I guess it's not much surprise I'm having "issues")

I've downloaded all the drivers for my Mac OS (just to be sure I got the right one) and they all said they installed fine. I plugged my OC1 into the USB port at the back of my Mac and got the usual countdown timer but no confirmation that a connection to a computer was detected.

I figured that wasn't a good thing but went ahead to see if I could download my dives anyway. After scanning for ports the only one that came up was "/dev/tty.usbserial-20030001" and when I tried to download the dives the following error came up:

Import Error
Failed connecting to dive computer on serial port '/dev/tty.usbserial-20030001' (Error Code: -6)

Is guess its hardly surprising as the OC1 never confirmed a connection but does anyone know what I'm doing wrong ....no doubt it's something trivial that I've overlooked but any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no confirmation that a connection is made - you need to choose Download -> Oceanic -> OC1. The serial port you selected is correct, and teh only other indication you get is that the OC1 goes in to countdown mode. That's also correct.

But I would remove all of those drivers completely, and only reinstall the correct one for your system. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a conflict there.

Thanks for suck a quick reply. I'm completely new no Mac so not 100% sure of things yet but I believe I've deleted the drivers (I searched for the term "driver" and moved the ones I recognized to the recycle bin) but I'm not sure how to decide what the processor architecture is of my i3 processor...the apple website just says it's new (not that useful!).

If it's brand new and you're running Snow Leopard, you want the 64 bit one. Actually I just checked and it looks like they all link to the same file, so it's possibly no big deal - but still, once is enough

There is a section on uninstalling drivers. Follow the VCP instructions, then reinstall once you've cleaned it all off. If you get stuck in those, send me an email (support@mac-dive.com).
