Where is the setting at to set if the photos for dives are stored somewhere specific or at the original photo location?

I would actually recommend against using this option though. Your database will grow massive. I will address this in the next major update, but it's still better to just reference the files.

After making this change do i need to read all the photos will the references automatically import them in when the change is made?

Doesn't seem like its actually working. Although it is making my database larger so clearly they are being copied into it. Options like the Slideshow still seem to be trying to find the photo by path instead of inside the database.

All the photos show up in the little window but in the slideshow just question marks. After placing the file back in its original location it works fine.

Additionally removing a photo does not decrease the database size. So I am assuming deleting the image is just getting ride of the GUI reference to the file in the database but not deleting the photo itself.

Let me take a look at this.

It's a bit of a hack, and the next major upgrade will bring the filesizes down and sort a few other problems out.

What happens if the photos that are referenced are moved? MacDive wont be able to keep a track of them right?

I reference many, many photos and then when I installed a new hard drive the path changed and MacDive couldn't find the photos. It was a lot of work to put them all back again so the only safe way is to have them stored within MacDive.

Yes. Performance becomes terrible and it's impossible for users to send me multi gigabyte data files to debug.

If you don't mind about disk space, let MacDive manage them (in prefs). They'll be copied to your data directory and achieve the same purpose as storing them internally, without the problems.
