Does anyone have a a step by step guide on how to pull .FIT files from the Garmin MK2i to iMac? I can't find where to find FIT files or where to drop.

I don't have one myself. But the simple method I was told by a user was to download them to Garmin Connect, and export from there. There's another method to access them more like files but it is a little more involved.

They must have changed the program, I don’t see anywhere to export data from Garmin Connect or Garmin Dive apps.

Pretty late reply but you can only download from the Garmin Connect website (connect.garmin.com)

If it's the same as the MK1, simply plugin the computer through USB and browse to the activities folder. Find the FIT files and drag them into MacDive to import

Just found on the Garmin site that the Mk2i will not be recognized on a Mac. Per their site: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=I ... PqZs9lA2ZA

This is a real bummer as I prefer MacDive as my dive log. I found I can export a CSV from the Garmin Connect web portal but it only downloads as CSV and for MacDive, it appears for Garmin it needs to be in a .FIT format.

Crossing fingers I can figure this out without having to use a Windows PC to get the files or something but we shall see..

My workflow on the Mac is as follows:
  • Connect MK2 and Mac with the Garmin USB cable
  • Start Commander One (is a payed software, but is worth it in my eyes)
  • Make sure that MTP support is activated in Commander One (Preferences/Extensions/MTP Devices)
  • In Commander One open the drive "Descent Mk2i"
  • Go to "Primary/Garmin/Activity
  • Now, sort by date with newest first
  • Make sure you really got a dive. My last entry sometimes is a cycling tour. Download that file to the Desktop in Commander One
  • Open MacDive and drag the .fit file into Macdive. If it is a dive and not some other activity, it will be added to your logbook

there are other options than Commander One, just google for "MTP Mac"

Hello folks,

for those using Commander One to access FIT files on the MK2I.

Garmin Express can cause the MK2 to not be discoverable by Commander One. To solve this issue launch Garmin Express and click on File > Preferences within Garmin Express. There are two check boxes. 1st box says "Always Keep Garmin Express running in background" and the 2nd is "automatically launch Garmin Express when connected".

Uncheck both these boxes and power cycle you Mac Off and On.

Commander one will now see the MK2I. as an MPT device on restart

Note Android File transfer does not care if you are running Garmin express and will connect to the device.

no additional software is needed!

• just upload your dives via the Garmin Connect app or the Garmin Dive app to the Garmin Connect cloud
• login to <garmin.com> on your desktop browser
• select diving in the very left column
• select the respective dive to be exported ('details')
• klick the gearwheel on the very right up and select export to download .fit
• import the file to MacDive with a double klick or by dragging it

Works fine on my MBP without having connected Phone, MK2i nor Mac
