Oceanic Pro Plus 4 Bluetooth can't find device

Hi!

I just bought my wife an Oceanic Pro Plus 4 Bluetooth enabled dive computer. We want to download her dives from it into macDive.

We did:
1: Make sure Bluetooth is turned on on her dive computer.
2: Select download, select Oceanic, select Pro Plus 4 Bluetooth
3: wait

Is there a step we are missing?

macDive just sites there "Looking for Device"

What are we doing wrong?

Cheers!

Hi,

No step missing. What kind of Mac is it - does it support Bluetooth LE? Or is it an iOS device?

Generally this means exactly what it says, it's looking for a device and hasn't found it. Make sure you don't have anything running that might interfere. Try turning bluetooth off/on etc. Ultimately MacDive can't connect if it doesn't see it.

Ah BTLE! That must be the problem. It's an old MacBook 2013.

We were able to get macDive iOS on her phone and sync that way.

Thanks for the response.

I thought I had added a warning for this, I will need to double-check. I might have only done that for certain devices and not all. But yeah you need LE, or you can use USB.

Either way, glad you got it working.

I just checked and indeed, basically none of the Bluetooth based importers actually alert you to this issue - they simply wait for Bluetooth to "turn on" indefinitely. This is.. remarkably stupid. I have updated a bunch of them to actually warn you and abort if Bluetooth LE is not supported.

I’m having this same problem with a Suunto D5 on iOS. It hangs as it did above despite Bluetooth being connected and Suunto app/notification features working.

This is not the same problem. You can only pair the D5 with one app, it is very picky. You need to go to settings on it and choose Forget Mobile, then you can pair.
