Disabling the preemptive text on Conditions tab

Is it possible to disable the preemptive text on the Conditions tab? It is horrible! Really, Really horrible. It makes it almost impossible to type anything and in most cases I have to use the Notes app to type what I want and then copy/paste to the field.
For example, for today's dive I wanted to enter "Moderate current and slight surge" in the "Surface Conditions" field but this is what happens as soon as I type the 'c' for "current":
It just tacks on any previously used text .
