Syncing the new Suunto D5 over bluetooth

Post by Antarctic-adventurer »

I recently bought the Suunto D5 and did 28 dives with it. Although I was successfully able to sync it through USB to Macdive on MacOS, I have been repeatedly unable to sync the computer using bluetooth to the iPhone.

Do I have to enable some kind of transfer mode in the computer itself? When I try to sync the D5 in MacDive for iOS it just keeps searching and never seems to connect. Any ideas if I'm doing anything wrong?

My guess would be you have paired it with a different device. The Suuntos will only work with the currently paired device, so if you want to use a new one you need to go to connectivity settings on the D5 and forget the paired device before you can connect to another.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for getting back to me on this one. So, seems you are right, I had already synced with the Suunto app which prevented syncing with MacDive. However although this enabled me to try and sync with MacDive, I now receive the error message saying that it "failed to query device." Is there anything else I could be doing incorrectly?

I had similar issue.

I need to delete BT pairing in order to make MacDive detect my D5.

After deletion the app found the device and get connected to the device.

Immediately after that the app started loading dive logs, however it hanged up in a few seconds. Tried several times and got the same result.

Hi,

It's impossible to say without seeing the log, unfortunately.

1. Settings > Enable debug logging
2. Try downloading
3. Wait for a couple of minutes, then Settings > Email

This will attach the debug log and send it to me and I can take a look. There's a newer beta that does fix one bug - the log will tell me if that's the cause, and if so, I can link you to the beta.

Thank you for the quick response.
I've emailed the debug log.
Download was on going to some extent and then
it seems to be dying with NSRangeException.

Please have a look.
