Support for OS 10.10 (Yosemite)

Hey guys,
Is there a different USB serial driver necessary for OS X Yosemite? I had MacDive on my previous Macbook running OS 10.8, but recently bought a new Mac Pro that just updated to Yosemite.
I'm using an Oceanic ProPlus 2.1, and I've downloaded the FTDI USB driver and installed the VCP, just like on my last Macbook. But no matter what I try, I keep getting the following:
Failed connecting to dive computer on serial port '/dev/tty.usbserial-20030001' (Error Code: -7)
Is there a newer technique or driver that I need to use for Yosemite? I know it just got released, so it may be too early. But any help would be appreciated.

No, that's all fine. The most common reason for that error with a Pro Plus 2.1 is that you have the cable plugged in upside down. It fits both ways, but it only works one way.

All,
Any further update on this?
I have used my Pro Plus and Mac Dive for a couple of years now with no issues. Now I am trying to download some new dives (first time on my new MacBook Pro 15" retina) and cannot get it going. I tried Mac Dive, I bought the Ocean software Diver Log, all with no success.
I have downloaded the latest USB software ver 10.4 and restarted my computer.
I have checked the preferences >> advanced >> ports and found the correct port.
Nothing still works.
I am getting the -7 error code
Help, please.

The most common reason for this is the cable upside down as above, or low battery. It's nothing to do with Yosemite.

Thanks for the reply, but I am certain of the cable and to be sure, I tried both ways.
I replaced the battery about a year ago and the indicator shows a full battery.
Just surprised as, while the Oceanic system is temperamental, I have had any issues before this.
Not sure how to further test a port or the device.

You said "USB Software Version 10.4". Could you clarify exactly which driver you are using? As the correct one is FTDI, 2.2.18. What serial port shows up?
If it's also not working in the official oceanic software, then it is more likely hardware related (cable or battery).

Hello,
Actually I am noticing that the zip file is v2_2_18. Once the zip package is expanded, the file name for my system is 10_4. The 10_3 does not work as it is for an older version of Mac OS.
I agree with you assessment about it not working with the Diver log, so it must be hardware. When i get home, I will test my dive computer with my iMac at home as this was the system i used in the past. I think this is the best next step.
I will let you know next week.
Thanks

Ah, right you are. The 10_4 one is good.
Yeah.. I would double and triple check the battery. More often than not when it was working fine, and now it's not, the battery is the culprit. I had a computer that had a cheap battery put in it at one point. It only lasted a year or so, it didn't say "Low Battery", so it appeared fine. I went to put it in dive mode on the boat and it said "low battery" and refused. Weirdly enough, it actually recorded the dive - even though it just had the time being displayed (ie, not dive mode) for the duration of the dive. At any rate, it could still be the battery.
It may also be the cable. It may not be that simple to get another cable, though. Do you have a dive shop nearby, or perhaps know someone that has one? It's not out of the question that the cable is damaged, so that's something else to check.
Have a look and make sure the contacts are not damaged or dirty in any way.

Hello,
I am home now and used my iMac to try and download. It worked fine. The iMac had no issue.
Do you have any idea why the iMac would work and not the MacBook Pro? They both have the same version OS.
It seems that it must be the USB port or controller.
Can Mac Dive look into this and see if you can produce an update as it seems more people will face this as time goes on.
Thank you,
David

All things being equal (cable, battery etc) it's most likely the driver not being installed properly. Sounds stupid, but sometimes it just needs to be reinstalled.
I have a MacBook Pro and a D9, and I've never had a problem with it - on Yosemite or previous versions. I have many regular users who have the same setup, none of whom have reported the issue.
I'm not sure what's up. I can look in to it, but I can't replicate your issue on any of my test machines just yet. I will let you know if I have any luck finding anything. Make sure you're not using a USB hub etc. Try the opposite USB port (sounds silly, it has resolved issues in the past).
For what it's worth, you will see the serial port on your machine whether the dive computer is plugged in or not. You only need the cable plugged in as this is what makes the serial port, and what you talk to.
