Auto-Adding iPhoto Edited Images

I'm a new user to the software, and was delighted to see a Mac Compatible dive program such as this. Thanks!
I am having difficulty auto-adding images that I have edited in iPhoto. The program doesn't seem to recognize the date they were created and cannot associate the image with the specific dive. Unedited photos seem to work just fine. Any correction or work-around for this?
