Suunto Vyper Air - Failed to read dive computer memory
Posted: Sun Dec 01, 2013 9:38 am
I've been using MacDive with this computer for about a year. I've downloaded 35 dives successfully during that time; suddenly, it's begun throwing this error.
I've run the diagnostic tool and will email the output according to the instructions on this thread - http://www.mac-dive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=407 - but am posting for posterity's sake.
The error message that I get is:
Failed to read dive computer memory (error -7)
If I plug the USB cable into the other USB port, the error code changes to -8.
Already tried scanning for serial ports and choosing one manually (there's only one device on my system -- /dev/tty.usbserial-A5002Vsn -- if you discount the Blutooth serial stuff).
I can see the blinkenlights going on the interface cable while MacDive is trying to do its thing, so I don't think it's an electrical issue.
Hardware/software info:
- Suunto Vyper Air (presumably "black edition" since the housing is black)
- SmartInterface USB cable
- MacBook Pro (2011-era)
- OS X 10.9
I'm following the diagnostic instructions on
