I'm having this same -5 error but only with my Pro Plus 2.0 (VT4 and Atom3 ok) The ProPlus has worked in the past on this same computer.
I was on FTDIUSBSerialDriver_v2_2_17 then loader vers 2.2_18 of the driver and also reloaded MacDive 2.1.5 s/w
But still get the error.
MBP 15-inch, Late 2011
Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b)
Oceanic ProPlus 2.0
Original USB cable (same cable works with VT4)
Oceanic VT4 OK
Oceanic Atom 3.0 OK
Any suggestions?

Just an FYI I was not sure which FTD usb driver to install x86 (32-bit) or the x64 (64-bit)
So I chose the x64 (64-bit) one

Most likely issue, if it has worked before, is a low battery.
And the most common cause of Pro Plus problems is that you are plugging the cable in upside down.

Hi!
Ever since installing mountain Lion I'm getting a similar error with my D6 using the SmartInterface cable.
Tried reinstalling the SmartInterface driver, but that didn't help.

Still no resolution for me but I wonder if it's something else cause I can't download from the ProPlus 2 on Windows with the Oceanic s/w either. But the same cable works fine with my VT4. Yes have it plugged right side up & Battery checks out fine. Sent an email to Oceanic but they never replied.

If it does not work in Oceanlog in windows, it will not likely work in MacDive.
Are you sure the cable is correct? The Pro Plus and Pro Plus 2.1 use different cables, I'm not sure which (if either) is the same as the VT4 one. You should double check the part numbers as it may be the wrong one, which would explain your issue.
