Photo in Macdive

Post by rodamyot »

I did a little search on the forum and I couldn't find the info

Does macdive can read the database of iphoto to match photo to the profile or it does a copy on a Macdive folder.

I'll like to match some photo to my dives but I don't want to duplicate all the files, canI just refer the the original file and if so will Macdive
be able to read original file in the iphoto library. ( I meen the iphoto library file where all the photo are embedded inside)

There is a preference, under Preferences -> Advanced that toggles whether MacDive will copy the image to its own folder or just reference it from its existing location.

You can drag and drop them from iPhoto/Aperture on to MacDive.

Actually I just bought the software because you are the best on mac anyway and just did what you said and it work fine.

Now If I do a "Auto add images" the Aperture Library and iphoto Library are grey.

It would be nice to get that working with the metadata directly with Aperture and iphoto.

If you mean when choosing what to auto-add, that's because they're not images. You can probably right click -> show package contents if you really want to do that, but MacDive wouldn't be able to tell between the various versions and things.

I'll have a look at adding some better support for linking to iPhoto/Aperture albums in a future update (this has actually been requested before), as it would be handy.

They are both much better at managing images than MacDive - which doesn't really want to *manage* them, just display them. So it would be a nice solution.

Thank and keep going you guys are on the right track.
I know the integration of apple app are not that easy but if you manage to do it it would be very nice :-)
So far I love MC and did't go in vacation with it yet. Waiting for my new Macbook air and I'm almost there for a perfect vacation kit.
