I am having problems with a few things......but here are the basics:
- Brand new VT4
- Brand new Macbook Air
- Standard interface cable supplied by Oceanic with no markings on it
- downloaded MacDive and it runs from what I can see.....and navigate around it.
- Downloaded the drivers from here http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm 2.2.17
- ran everything.....but I can not seem to get the Mac to talk to the VT4

what am I missing here?

What error message are you receiving?

funny thing is I do not see an error.....
I just can seem to see any type of connection between the two

I start the Macdive.....then plug in the USB cable......then the dive computer....go to the connection setting....and all that happens is the Dive computer times out

Maybe you want:

File -> Download Dives -> Oceanic -> VT4

Boy do I feel silly....it works......

I have a PC and a MAC....and am running a VT4 on each....I noticed that on the PC you can do all the settings through the program.....does macdive do the same?

No, sorry. MacDive does not currently support writing to devices for either firmware or settings. All communication with dive computers is reverse engineered (with a couple of exceptions), and until there is official documentation on how to correctly apply these updates I don't think it's wise. :) I would hate to damage your device!

Those settings can pretty much all be changed on the device itself anyway, as far as I am aware. Pretty sure my VT4 can change everything the software can, but I haven't really done a proper comparison.
