Problem merging dives

Post by Newsrus »

The latest MacDive update appears to have removed the merge dives function. Anyone know how I can now merge two dives into one? There is a "join selected dives" option but it doesn't appear to perform the same function as merge.

Thanks.

As per the release notes, Merge was renamed to Join.

Unfortunately it is currently broken. Please email me, as a couple of other people reported the same problem and I will get this fixed ASAP and email you a new version to try.

There is a beta available that should fix this -

Hi,

I purchased Macdive yesterday and uploaded all my dives from the Suunto Vyper.
Have found 2 issues:

- the join (merge) function does not seem to work.
- uploading pictures in the divers profile does not show the picture in the profile. Because I tried uploading the picture a couple of times it now shows multiple pictures in some of photo folders per dive and there is no option to edit/delete.

Use latest version 2.1.3 (downloaded the software yesterday, so do not assume that the bug fix link in this thread needs to be used :D )
Run the application on iMac running 10.7.3

Regards,
Paul

yup, merge/join is working with the beta.

Once you join a dive, re-importing missing dives will re-import one of the dives you merged.

Indeed, because it no longer "exists". This will only happen if you are not using "Only import new dives", or it is the last dive. After that, things should work as expected.

I'm a new user to mac-dive having just purchased and downloaded the latest version today. I have a few dives in DiveLog (v 1.7.3) and the last 5 in my new dive computer.

I wanted to make sure the computer and DiveLog dives merged on loading so I read a few threads before starting. The advice seemed to be ... download your computer first and then sync with IOS DiveLog on my iPhone. I have also made sure the times/dates of the dives in my computer are exactly the same as those in Dive Log. They are being downloaded as me as the diver - not as "Suunto Diver".

When I do this, all the dives download form both devices, but as duplicates & not merged.

When I try to "join" the 2 dives (as a work-around only) - nothing happens.

I'd appreciate any advice on both points
1 - how to get them to merge automatically?
2 - how to get the Join to work as a work-around?

DiveLog = version 1.7.3
Mac Dive = version 2.1.4
Mac OS = 10.6.8
Computer = Suunto Vyper Air Black

Using join is not a workaround. Join concatenates the profiles, so it takes two short dives and makes them one long dive. For example, you do a dive and surface for just a few minutes and the computer records two dives. This is most definitely not what you want.

As for the actual sync - the help explains this. Basically, you have to make sure the time is within 2 minutes. If you have a dive computer set in Dive Log, then this must match *exactly* to what is in Dive Log. That's it - the diver is irrelevant, as MacDive/Dive Log store them in different ways.

Thanks for such a quick response. Removing the Dive Computer entry in DiveLog sorted out the problem - it now merges my Computer & Dive Log entries. :D

Not to mention the education on what Join actually does!

Thanks Again !
