Hi Nick,
I recently helped out at a pool session and my Cobalt recorded the time as five repetitive dives. When I tried to join the selected dives, I noticed that it didn't do anything. So then I selected just two of the dives and tried again. So then I quit and tried again. And then again. Etc.
So then I thought to check the forum, and found the Beta version that said it fixes the merge bug. But I'm not sure if it does, or if I just made a royal mess of my data... So I tried it, and holy heck was the now-merged dive a hot mess! It still had a duration of one minute, but then had a hacksaw for a dive profile (i.e. from all of the previous join attempts, I'm guessing).
So I deleted the five dives, went to "Download Dives" and tried "Any dives that have not been imported." After downloading 28 "new" dives (and deleting 23 of the old ones that had already been merged), I was able to select the five dives in question and merge them!
One interesting note, though, was in the gas management tab. After the initial join, it was populated with 10 tanks. Every other tank was grayed out and didn't have any pressure info, so I just deleted them. Otherwise, I do like how it shows each segment of the dive as a separate tank.
I supposed it's a long, convoluted, and round-about way of saying it, but thanks for all your hard work. The beta works as promised, and I hope that you're able to fold it into a release before it becomes a hassle supporting people.
Thanks!
Kevin

Re: Problem with joining dives (self solved)
I appreciate you taking the time to post, and the very kind words considering it was entirely my fault! The gas management issue with 10 tanks is part of the same problem. It's basically all to do with the join mostly succeeding, but not quite, and when the beta finally fixed the issue a whole bunch of new data turned up.
I'm glad you got it sorted, and I apologise again for the inconvenience. I'm hoping to get this out as official shortly. In fact, I'll try and get it out this weekend, as it has indeed caught a few people. I had no idea so many people used this feature.
2.1.2 was a pretty massive update (internally at least), and a fair number of bugs made it through. 2.1.3 addressed a large number, but it was rushed out very fast to deal with some show stoppers. So hopefully this beta will do what 2.1.2 should have, by providing much enhanced gas management without quite so many problems
