The D9 cable isn't compatible with the D4i (or the D6i or D9tx).
This is covered on the main page of MacDive's help. You need the new cable.

OS X 10.7 Lion and beyond..
I am having a problem since updating the Lion and MacDive 2.1.
I have installed the drivers but am still getting the following error message when trying to import dives from my Vytec - Failed to read header information (Error Code: -5).
Can you offer any advice.
Regards
David Ramsey

Is the device in transfer mode?
I've also had a few reports that uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers has helped. I installed mine fresh on a new install of Lion and I've had no problems at all, so I would recommend trying that.

Thanks for your response. I am in transfer mode and my cable is ok.
How do I remove the driver and reinstall and can you confirm the thread for the correct driver i.e. Vytec and Lion os. I am using a usb/serial adaptor.
Thanks David

Re: OS X 10.7 Lion and beyond..
I can confirm the following combination works fine:
* OSX 10.7.2 (Lion)
* MacDive 2.1.0
* Suunto Cobra 3
* Cable from Custom Ideas using driver from here (driver ver 2.9)
Caveat: had to remove and re-add the computer from the "Gear" before it was picked up properly. I had done 5 dives with the computer before the cable arrived - I guess something had to be a little "werid"
All up I'm VERY pleased with the combination! Kudos to the devs

You will need to go to the website you got the driver (there are links on the devices page, but it depends on what kind of cable you have). They should have instructions on how to remove it there, as it will depend which one you installed.inverlane wrote:Thanks for your response. I am in transfer mode and my cable is ok.

Re: OS X 10.7 Lion and beyond..
Just in case anyone else runs into this problem: I upgraded from 10.7.2 to 10.7.3 and although the data cable was recognised, I couldn't transfer any data from my Cobra3. So I simply reinstalled the driver (see me previous post in this thread on where to get the drivers), rebooted and voila!
So seems like OSX point releases from Apple can break 3rd party drivers requiring them to be reinstalled. Sux, but this is the walled garden we live in.
