I haven't dove in a while. Just did and tried to use MacDive on my new mac.. I downloaded from the website. Tried to open and got this message and a failure to open.
"MacDive failed to update its database. Usually this means you were using an incompatible data version. Please contact support."
Please help.

Most likely a corrupt database, you will need to delete it. The FAQ explains where to find the file:

Re: I can't open MacDive on my mac
Thank you for the help. I deleted whatever file it was trying to use, but it was an iCloud sync. Unfortunately now it won't sync and I don't appear to be able to enter my account info....just get a new license for one computer. My dives are in the cloud and on my iPhone but I can't move them to the computer without getting the new version.
:-/ Guess I'll just leave it on the phone and probably do something else. Seemed like a good option a few years ago.

Not the same issue but I am getting the following message when trying to download MacDive to a new Laptop:
“MacDive_2.16.3.dmg” cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer."
Has anyone else had a similar problem? Thanks.
