Shearwater sampling rate changed in v65 firmware

Post by whysocold »

Shearwater now allows the user to select 2, 5, or 10 second sampling rates. Previously, only 10 was available. The release notes (PDF Warning: https://www.shearwater.com/wp-content/u ... -Notes.pdf) say that the sampling rate will automatically be downsampled to 10 second intervals unless the log software supports the new intervals.
When downloading to legacy log software (e.g. old Shearwater Desktop or third-party programs) the dive computer will down convert the log to a 10 second rate for backwards compatibility. Downloading at faster rates requires using Shearwater Cloud v2.2.2 or higher. Thirdparties may offer download and display of the faster rates in the future.
Once support for the faster rates is supported, it would be nice to be able to reload the log with the faster rate and not lose the metadata that has been entered (dive site etc).

This is already supported on the Teric in the current releases. I have already updated both iOS and macOS to support this for the Perdix, Perdix AI etc. There is a macOS beta available. I'll have an iOS beta available shortly.

Note that dives would need to be redownloaded, they cannot be updated in place. This is because the data format sent from the device is actually different with the newer Teric style method.
