Galileo Support.

Post by Riger »

Hi there,

Firstly - Good luck with the new Forum, I hope it is a huge success for you and the MacDive software.

I would like to request support for the Galileo Sol. If there is anything that I can do to get you the data you need, please let me know.

I know this request was made on the ScubaBoard forum, I look forward to any progress you may make for this support.

Very Best Regards

Richard

I could have guessed this would be the very first question :)

Unfortunately for now Uwatec support is off the cards, at Uwatecs request. They would prefer Mac users stick with JTrak.

Nick,

Thanks for the response.

Wow, Uwatec's request !!

That is almost reason enough to tell Uwatec to stick their product and to switch to another computer!!

Sound harsh? I know, but that seems extreme to block 3rd party, read only interface.

Regards

Interestingly, JTrak works on Mac, Windows, and Linux. It's a java application, and it's packaged for each of the three platforms, but I imagine the core of the application doesn't differ drastically for that reason.

The Mac version does have an export, but it's "Microsoft Excel" only.

I exported the default dives that it comes with, and it looks like it exports only Time, Depth, Temp.
It also appears to export only a single dive at a time, no matter how many are selected.

I'm going to look in to reading the access DB, which will be better than nothing for now. I'll see how I go though - depending on time, it may or may not be in the first release.

On the Mac, it uses the HSQL Database engine, with a memory table type.

Under ~/Library/Preferences/jtrak/DB_V3, the file jtrak.script is simply a set of SQL statements. I've tested a little, and when I create a new logbook, or new dives, it adds those statements to that file.

It looks like it creates a memory based logbook on the fly, from SQL statements.

Do you have a sample file I could look at?

Sure.. I can email them, or if there's a place to put files for the forums, I can upload them there. Since I have blank devices, I was thinking of posting dumps somewhere, and maybe port sniff logs as well.

For now just drop me a mail - I'll look at setting something more convenient up later.
