MacDive 2 Geodata

Post by honigferd »

Hola!

First of all congratulations to 2.0 - So far it looks like a promising and HUGE step in a very nice direction. Great job!

One thing has been bugging me though:
In the old MacDive I added Geodata to all my locations in the form of 49,1234 8,91231

Whenever I try to view/edit it, I'm getting this "broken" screen:
Screen shot 2010-07-13 at 09.00.54.png
Also the sites map looks like this:
Screen shot 2010-07-13 at 09.02.46.png
(Note the flag in the top left of the map, may the coordinates have slipped outside the map boundaries because of the comma?)

How should I commence from here to fix it? How would I edit the GPS info for the sites?

Cheers,
Stefan

So it's basically just google maps. Whatever you put in the "search for places or coordinates.." box is whatever the google maps API can deal with. I put that in and it didn't seem to work, so you may have to change the format.

You can either search for a place, or coordinates (the way google expects them). From there, you can drag the site marker and that's where the position will be saved.

As for the gray on the sites map - I get this sometimes too. It's basically webkit failing to load the data or timing out. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.. it's rather annoying though!

Is that any help?

MacDive finds another location in tab "Map" for the geo data "23.4274N, 35.8762E" (on land) than maps.google.de finds (on sea). Later one is correct - I'm pretty sure.

Hm, it's still the same for me with 2.0.1

Also can't reset the dive locations manually, because no map seems to appear at all. :-(

Should I send you my database file?

Cheers,
Stefan.

This is fixed for the next patch - basically the GPS coordinates that were stored had commas, not periods, and that was causing problems when searching via google maps. The patch will sort this out, though you don't really edit them manually any more anyway. It's really more a fix to sanitise data entered in 1.5.x.
