Issues to import dives from MARES Puck Pro

Post by RmacK »

Hi everybody!

First of all, sorry for my English. I'm a french speaking person, and I'll try my best!

I succeed to import all my dives, in october 2019, in february and even in the beginning of june. But since that, I've got an error message when I want to import new dives. The message says:
MacDive encountered a problem downloading from your Mares Puck Pro.
Failed connecting to dive computer on serial port "/dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART" Error Code: -7
I have 2 different MARES Puck Pro, and the same message appears with every dive computer. To be fully precise, I'm working on a Mac (MacOS 10.15.5).

I tried to update the software and the Silicon Labs driver, but nothing changed. I found a mistake on the Silicon Labs website. They says that the last review of the OSX VCP Driver was made in february 2020 (Driver 5.3.5) and the last one we can download is v5.2.4

So I really need your help to be able to make me importing new dives.

Thank you! Kind regards

Hi,

It might be a bad connection, or the device is not in PC Transfer mode perhaps. You can try rebooting, sometimes after installing the driver it doesn't start up properly.

Hi,

I checked a lot of times the connection. I was, of course, in PC Transfer mode... I reboot once, and I shutted down the Mac and restarted it to be sure. But nothing changed...

Do you have low battery? That can also cause problems.

No. It’s brand new dive computers and our batteries are full.

And for my Mac, it’s a Mac Mini. So, no battery!!!

Good day to you RmacK;

I am currently using two Mares Puck computers with MacDive and last fall was also using two Mares Puck Pro computers. Other than what Nick has suggested I am not sure what else might help you. Have you tried removing the Silicon Labs driver and using an older one. I have never upgraded mine since I started using MacDive and therefore I think I am using v2.9.0d1 without any issues.

Also, even though it is a new computer, I would recommend changing the battery to see if that helps.

Have a great day and safe diving!
