Best way of usage: Combining Scuba and Freediving

Post by honigferd »

Hi,

I'm not sure if this has been discussed here before, but my search didn't really turn out anything helpful.
So far I'm using MacDive for managing and I then export it all to my iOS devices' Dive Log.

I'm Scubadiving and Freediving. As of this year I'm also starting to log my free dives (indoor and outdoor sessions) and I want to use MacDive for it.

Are there recommendations how to do this ideally? So far I've managed my Scuba dives pretty accurately, but how would I handle the free diving part whilst keeping it as easy to manage as possible, yet not having a hard time keeping them apart when viewing them (for showing the scuba dives at a diving center on the iPad for example)?

Two separate divers in MacDive?
Separate by Dive type?
Would any of this mess up my statistics (e.g. SAC rate)?

Very thankful for any input!

Cheers
Stefan.

Change the gas model to Free Dive and create a smart filter. That will also display ascent/descent speed etc on the profile for you.

Oh!

Didn't even know that feature existed!

I will definitely give it a shot and see how it works out.
(and probably have a few more questions or feature requests soon enough! ;) )

Thank you!
