Problems upload.

Post by UncleLar »

I finally got a cable today from Custom Idea. I had already downloaded your software, the cable driver software, and purchased a multiuser license from Mac Dive. I set my Gekko to "PC SET", plugged in the cable and attempted to download. All I get is "Import Error Could not detect a valid serial port". Any idea how to troubleshoot this?

Probably you need to follow the instructions for preferences -> advanced -> scan for serial port.

I had already tried that too with the same results.

Tried what? Did you install the USB driver?

What serial port showed up when you scanned?

When I hit SCAN it said no serial ports detected. And yes, I did install the USB driver.

Often you can see the serial port when you click scan even if the device is not plugged in (due to electronics in the cable).

So either the driver is not installed, or.. the cable is not plugged in :)

Are you using a USB hub?

No USB hub, plugged directly into the USB port on the computer. I tried both. I even tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it. And yes, the cable is plugged in.

What driver did you install?

Do you have access to another computer with windows to verify the cable is not faulty?

Hmm, that may be it. I installed the Intel driver rather than the Snow Leopard driver.

Okay, with the proper driver installed (and the wrong one uninstalled) it now recognizes the cable. I went to preferences and selected the only option it gave me after a scan. However, when I tried to download dives I get the message:

Import Error
Failed to read header information (Error Code: -5)

Thanks for your help.
