I have tried 50 times. Up, down, sideways. Jiggle, joggle, cussed and put it away. Started all this over again. This is a problem with my Mac getting the right serial port with the USB dongle... not me plugging or jiggling a cable.

Will you share what

"Failed connecting to dive computer on serial port '/dev/tty.usbserial-20030001' (Error Code: -5)" means???

Hi,

It means there’s an issue talking to your dive computer. Without specifying what that device is, I can only guess. Commonly for say a Pro Plus 3 this is because the cable is plugged in upside down (fits both ways, but only works one way). It can also mean you have low battery, as it requires more battery to download than to dive.

The short version is that this is a hardware problem on your end, make sure you don’t have wet contacts, low battery, etc, all the stuff the user guide says.

Cuss on. It’s what I do with tech.

Cheers.

I am also having problems connecting. My System report finds:

Suunto Sports Instrument:

Product ID: 0xf680
Vendor ID: 0x0403 (Future Technology Devices International Limited)
Version: 4.00
Serial Number: ST000001
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/s
Manufacturer: Suunto
Location ID: 0x14300000 / 28
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 300
Extra Operating Current (mA): 0

MacDive finds the port: /dev/tty.URT1

When I try to download dives from My Suunto D6i (OS Mac Catalina), I get Download error: MacDive ... problem downloading from your D6i

I am operating on the latest version of MacDive.

Any suggestions?

Is that the original D6 cable? If so, it is not compatible with the D6i.

This is the same cable I successfully used several months ago.

Nick,

You are wise. I was using my old D9 cable. Once I substituted the D6, no issues. If I could only tell a 6 from a 9.....

I have these two cables, unfortunately my old D9 one was pretty broken and I think I threw it out. I thought one had an oring or a red dot and the other didn't, I forget what the difference is now..

All my A/V cables have little white stickers looped over the end with something written in marker so I can tell what is what. Maybe that would work for you.
