Error Contacting Dive Computer

I am trying to use MacDive with a Suunto D9 on a MacBook Pro OS 10.5.8.

I am using the supplied Suunto USB cable and when I attempt to import the data, MacDive gives me the message "Error contacting dive computer." The dive computer registers the connection with "Data Transfer."

I have been reading through the forums and see information about loading 'drivers' for the USB cable (I think!) and 'test applications' but I am not sure where to find which driver and how to deal with it. Can anybody please help? With some simple step-by-step instructions!! :oops:

Thanks muchly and happy bubbles!

You need to install the FTDI USB drivers, which are linked off my website under Devices -

http://thedoorisajar.org/macdive/

Install these, following their instructions.

Start macdive.

Plug device in.

Click File -> Import -> Suunto D9.

Easy..

If you have any issues then reply here. Sometimes if you have other devices on the system (a nokia for example) it can mean you have to perform one extra step, but this should be adequate.
