Mares Icon HD

Post by Exposure »

Hi Nick,

Just bought a Mares Icon HD. If there is something I can do to have it in MacDive, let me know.

I have an experimental test application for the iconhd that you can try. It just fires off the download command and watches the serial line. So it's not as functional as the usual test applications, but its purpose is to learn how the communication is supposed to work. You can download it here:

http://www.divesoftware.org/libdc/build ... iconhd.exe

If you can run on windows, that would give me the best info. I'm not even sure it will work on the other platforms. Note that once started the application will wait forever, and you'll need to kill it manually with Ctrl-C or the task manager.

Thanks TnT. Here is what I get by using your software:

[0.000] DATETIME 2010-05-01T15:39:03Z (1272728343)
[0.000] REVISION 394
[0.000] DEVICE=COM3
[0.000] mares_iconhd_device_open
[0.000] Timeout: value=-1
[0.000] DTR: value=1
[0.000] RTS: value=1
[0.000] device_dump
[0.000] Write: timer=0, size=2, data=e742, remaining=0

Then nothing happens.

I think I did setup the serial lines incorrectly. I have uploaded a new build. Can you retry? You are supposed to get lots of output once it starts to receive some data.

Hi again TnT,

Maybe I did something wrong the first time 'cos I was using COM3 instead of COM5. So here is the log with your last version of the software: http://yr1.free.fr/mares/ICONHD.LOG

There is one dive on it: 22nd of January 2010 at 60.5m for 29min.

This looks a lot better. Did you abort the transfer while it was still receiving data, or was there no activity anymore?

Here is a new file:

They were no program running at the same time but I had to kill the program after few minutes without activity. The beginning shows a lot of "f" running on the screen. Let me know if I should wait longer.

I think I figured out how to read the data now. I have updated the test application. It should now exit properly at the end of the transfer, and write out a memory dump.

If it works, you could also try the macosx variant now. I'm not sure if it will work because the windows application communicates at a baudrate of 256000, but unix systems do not seem to have that on. So I used the one that is nearest (230400). No idea if that will work.

Hi There,

Here is a new file:

But as I had to cancel the transfer at the end I am not sure to get the right program.
