Critters on the Mac app?

Post by weppos »

I have been playing a little bit with the critters feature on the iOS app and it's quite neat. I'm curious to know if you planning to port the feature also on the Mac app.

That was the plan, yep, provided there was demand for it. You're not the first to ask.

it would be so cool to organise a local set critters with their photos (e.g. public domain / wikipedia) on a mac app before going to a specific dive area and then just mark ones spotted on a particular dive.

You can already filter by ones you've seen and ones you haven't (see the critters settings). Maybe that gets you part way there? It's not separate lists. Maybe that's an interesting feature to add though, I kinda like that.

A community area somewhere for users to share critters and maybe even dive sites would be pretty neat.

If there's enough interest then I would be open to looking in to these ideas in the future. Particularly for dive sites. With the location tracking, having a way to look up sites you may be at would be really fantastic.

I played a little bit with https://diviac.com/ in the past, but I didn't want to keep my data in sync manually and I stayed with MacDive as it offered a better experience. They used to offer a simple import app, therefore they may have some sort of API (although I can't find it advertised on their website).
