Problem syncing two Macbook Pros

Post by Altamira »

I used Migration Assistant to import Mac Dive from MB Pro 1 to MB Pro 2, both running current High Sierra. Migration worked as advertised. However after loading 6 new dives into MB Pro 2 and did a manual icloud sync, the new dives are not showing up on MB Pro 1, with ICloud selected on both computers. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

I don't think the migration assistant would have done the right thing. I suspect you now have two Macs that think they are the same thing, as far as the sync goes. So you should reset it and start over.

1. Disable syncing on one Mac (and any iOS devices)
2. On the other Mac, instead of disabling sync, choose "Reset Cloud"
3. Confirm this
4. Wait for ~15 minutes
5. Enable syncing again on one Mac
6. Wait for it to finish, and wait another ~15 minutes
7. Enable sync on the next Mac
8. Repeat, until enabled on all devices

The waiting just gives the cloud (iCloud in particular) time to settle down and make sure everything is uploaded/synced correctly. It's not usually necessary, but best to play it safe.
