New Releases - macOS 2.9.4, iOS 1.2.11

Post by nick »

Hey there,

I've released a new version for macOS. There's a new version for iOS which has been submitted to apple and needs to be reviewed, I'll update once that is available.

With regards to the Garmin Descent, some of the GPS features from iOS have been added to macOS. That is, locations will be grabbed from the device. When using the Site menu (in the table or inspector), you may get an "Is this Site X?" menu option, if it's close to an existing site. When using the Quick Create box in the dive inspector location tab, the GPS coordinates will also be filled out for the dive. Let me know if you have any feedback after using this!

I've also added the ability to use Bluetooth for the Scubapro G2, which was a popular request, as well as the existing USB. Since the Sport Matrix requires it I had to add it anyway.

macOS
  • Added support for the Garmin Descent Mk1 (via FIT)
  • Added support for the Scubapro Aladin Sport Matrix (Bluetooth)
  • Added Bluetooth for the Scubapro G2 (as well as existing USB)
  • Added GPS fields to quick-site-create
  • Updated gas mix icons to match iOS
  • Added option to allow exporting a blank notes page when printing
  • When manually creating a new dive, gear is now auto-added
  • Misc minor improvements/fixes
  • Fixed bug where the dive inspector map wouldn't update after changing a site
  • Fixed reading gas mix from a Mares Smart in some cases
  • Various minor bug fixes
iOS
  • Added support for the Scubapro Aladin Sport Matrix (Bluetooth)
  • Tapping "Unique Sites" in stats will take you to a map of those sites
  • Added "New Sites" in stats, to view new sites per tag/trip/log
  • Minor UI improvements
  • Fixed bug saving photos to photo library
Edit: Updated to add iOS version.

Edit 2: I've also re-released 2.9.3 as 2.9.4 to fix an annoying (internal) bug. Sorry for the double-update.

Hello,

"Via FIT" means "via .FIT activity file". If you plug in your Garmin to your Mac, then navigate to Garmin > Activity in the Finder, you will see a bunch of .FIT files. Drag and drop them on to MacDive to read them all.

Via USB cable can be added easily enough, though it would really just automate the drag/drop for you. I will add a note to look in to it.

Bluetooth on iOS I can't really answer at this stage without getting access to a Garmin myself to test.

Photos don't sync anymore. I just added two dives on my MacBook Pro laptop. Everything was fine. On my iMac I launched MacDive, an older version was installed but I chose not to upgrade. After a sync (using dropbox), everything was fine there too. I then launch the updater and let it take me up to 2.9.4.

Now when I look at my last two dives, there are broken link images on the diver profile. The total photo count is correct but the images are gone. In addition, I get the same issue with mi iOS Mac Dive as well...

Not sure what to do at this point.

Reset the sync:

1. Disable syncing on all devices but one
2. On that, choose Reset Sync instead
3. Wait 20-30 minutes
4. Re-enable on one device
5. Wait 10 minutes
6. Re-enable on next device, etc

Make sure you also have enough free space in your cloud account.

Don’t think it had anything to do with this specific update as nothing changed sync-wise.

Thanks.

I’ve followed this procedure and now none of my photos have sync’d. So essentially on my iOS device all the dives are there and all my photos have vanished. Not just my latest two dives, but all of them are now broken links. I will not attempt to sync to my iMac at this point. I have a fully functioning MacBook Pro with all my dives and photos and an iOS device with all the dives and no photos.

I can’t say which version I had prior but this all started happening after this update. And yes it synced and showed all fine to my iMac just before the update loaded and restarted the app and then suddenly the last two dives I made last week lost all the photos. No other changes and it worked with an older version. What shall I try now?

Is sync photos enabled on your iPhone?

When you reset, did you confirm removing the images as well?

Thanks
