Problems in downloading with stunt Stinger

Hi all, I have recently updated to El Capitan (I have a 10.11.6 (15G1611) version). Since the update I can not download dives. Overtime I try to connect my Stinger to my Mac I got this message

Failed to read header information (Error Code: -7)

If I open Macdive settings there is only one available port that is

dev/tty.usbserial

Any hints on what the problem could be? I have installed the latest Prolific driver + I use official Suunto cables (that I am sure do not have any broken loose pin). The Stinger has full power in its battery.

Thanks for support,

M

Is the Stinger in PC transfer mode?

Yes of course it is. I exatcly followed the Suunto Manual procedure: set the pc to transfer, wait few seconds and then plug the computer in the docking system.

However nothing happens. I (tend to) believe that it is a driver/serial port issue. I have dowloaded the latest Prolific driver (that can be used under El Capitan OS) and still nothing happens.

I tried also to follow what I was instructed to do last time I had a similar issue. However there is still something missing (or maybe I need step-by-step instructions as I am not an IT geek).

Thanks
M

Hi all, I tried to connect it to a PC and everything works fine, so this rules out the possibility that my problem is due to a hardware issue (cables, pin low battery and so on).

Still no success in activating the usb serial port. I am quite sure the problem lies there. Any suggestion?

My guess would be with the Prolific USB driver.

Try Tools > Send Diagnostic Info, and use "vyper" as the device type. Does that work? Email me the log from it.

Hi Nick I tried the diagnostic tool as follow: launched Macdive; plugged the docking and cables; put the diving computer in transfer mode and waited few seconds; connected and waited for the 'ready' signal to appear; performed the 'vyper' test as instructed and this is what I got:

0.019 INFO: Open: name=/dev/tty.usbserial
0.076 INFO: Configure: baudrate=2400, databits=8, parity=1, stopbits=0, flowcontrol=0
0.083 INFO: Timeout: value=1000
0.083 INFO: DTR: value=1
0.083 INFO: Sleep: value=100

0.256 INFO: Sleep: value=500
0.790 INFO: RTS: value=1
0.791 INFO: Write: size=5, data=0500002025
0.791 INFO: Sleep: value=200
1.041 INFO: Purge: direction=1
1.041 INFO: RTS: value=0
2.109 INFO: Read: size=0, data=
2.109 ERROR: Failed to receive the answer.

I tried also to perform the test by first connect the docking and cables, then diving computer and then launch Maldive and perform the test but it failed again.

Does it make any sense to you? Still believe it is a driver issue?
thanks
Marco
