Suunto Vyper Air Black edition connection problems

Post by markyb71 »

Hi - I am connecting my Suunto Vyper Air Black edition to my computer via Suunto USB cable. I am running a Macbook PRO and also tried the works Imac with the latest MacOS (10.12.3) - I have just changed the battery in the Vyper, downloaded and installed the Mac drivers from the custom ideas website (FTDIUSBSerialDriver_10_4_10_5_10_6_10_7), but cannot seem to get it recognised on the Mac. Data transfer appears on the screen on the Vyper. Then a message on macdive appears --Failed connecting to drive computer on serial port '/ dev/tty.usbserial-ST000001' (Error Code: -7) - Many thanks for any help or suggestions

Usually this error would be:

1. Low battery
2. You have Suunto Dive Manager open at the same time, which prevents it working
3. You chose the wrong model (eg Vyper, instead of Vyper Air)

See also Troubleshooting Downloads in the User Guide. Make sure you installed the correct USB driver. If you have the official suunto cable, the one you mention is wrong (and is for older versions of macOS that MacDive no longer supports anyway).
